The Brief before

The Brief

We have worked with Select Healthcare Group now for over 10 years and this is the second variation of the Select Healthcare website we have produced. As Select Healthcare were having a complete rebrand they decided to contract us to redesign the website at the same time. The brief was very much the same as the first website, as Select are one of the leading care home companies in the UK the brief was to portray this and really make them stand out from the crowd. SEO is a massive factor for Select so making sure the website was SEO friendly within the build was a key factor.

The new website had to be easy to navigate around and of course show Select’s caring and professional attitude to people who are in need of their many services. They have a large portfolio of care homes so making sure that people can gain access to their local care home was also of top priority.

The Approach

The approach as always working with Select was very much listening carefully to the brief, offering our own ideas and having very close communication with the Select team throughout the process. The homepage was firstly designed and was extremely welcomed with minimum changes. As with all West Midlands Media projects all internal pages were then designed so our clients can see how the whole site will look and function before the development stage starts. As we had a solid brief, the look and feel of the internal pages also needed minimum updates before the website went into our development process. Due to the complexity of the new website it was custom built from the ground up by our amazing team of in-house developers.

West Midlands Media worked alongside the branding company to make sure all their guidelines were followed across the new website and that the new brand really stood out, from the brand logo to colour palettes, font sets and tone of voice too. The new colour palette is a lot more brighter now and really helps sell the service in a very modern, positive, professional and of course caring manner.

Web Design

At the pre build meeting a lot of great ideas and new specifications were discussed, like showing the nodes on Google maps of the positions of the care homes and a great new search facility for people to find their local care home that caters for their requirements. Elements like family members being able to send digitial postcards to their loved ones were used a lot on the previous site so updating these and making sure they stood out were also key factors.

Overall we love the new website and it has been extremely successful in helping people who require the service find Select, but also helping find new staff as Select Healthcare are constantly improving their offerings across the whole of the UK.
